Day 12: 2018/05/07
Today’s Topic: Python: A Byte of Python
Today’s Progress: Continue “A Byte of Python” from page 135 (What’s next) and on. I started by working on a super simple “replace string” exercise. The next topic from the book is a list of exercises (which I am not going to do for now, but will come back later). The rest contains a bunch of reading and guidelines that I read through, and after that, this book should be done.
Thoughts: “replace” can be as simple as “string.replace(a,b)” (which is what I did) or as complicated as a regular expression. I started with the easy version hoping to improve down the line. Today I work on the “with open” more, so I am hoping I can get very familiar with this. The more I read, the more I think I should go back to “phonebook” and improve it (with class concept maybe)
- with open (something, ‘w’(or’r’))
- With tuple unpacking, using _ as a throwaway label is also OK.
For example: _, url, urlref = data (the first element will be ignored)
- next stops:
- Functional Programming
