Metaframe Pattern
Think of another belief about this belief.
Ask:
1. How is it possible they could believe what they are saying?
2. Outframe the entire argument or think of a belief about this belief.
This pattern usually takes the form of “You’re only saying that because…“
Statement: Finding a new job is very hard.
You are saying that because you have very high hopes for your future new job.
Statement: His laziness at work makes me very angry.
You are only feeling that because you believed you worked more than him, and you didn’t see his hard work.
